Here’s the video of the <del>day</del> <del>week</del> <del>month</del> year, if you haven’t seen it yet. It may just change your life.

Zach Sobiech, at 14 years old, found out he had a rare form of terminal cancer. So he became a rock star, and millions of people got to see his music before he passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Above is his beautiful story. “You don’t have to find out you’re dying to start living,” he told the documentary crew, who made a movie about Zach “not because he was dying, but because he was living.”

Sobiech posted a song, “Clouds,” on YouTube in December to leave a lasting legacy, which now has been viewed over 3.3 million times. … Read More

How about this for some Monday Motivation?

As Henry Ford puts it, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” We understand the importance of getting one’s mind right for any task or challenge, and urge to think positively when encountering difficulties.

In our worlds, there’s a power of vision that enables one to focus. What you focus on, you draw to yourself. That also goes into our thought process of concentrating on only the things you can control and turning everything into a positive.

Look at this week ahead and decide what you can accomplish. Then, go out and get it done.

We have a wonderful opportunity ahead of ourselves, but we can only … Read More

It’s one of Coach Carroll’s greater mantras. If you attack every task on every day with the mentality to “do it better than it has ever been done before,” you are striving for success.

It’s a deliberate and purposeful way to maximize your potential–in anything you pursue. Whether it’s in your professional career or recreational basketball game, we all strive to maximize our potential.

If you want to be uncommon with your actions and skills, you need to know that everything counts to perform to the best of your ability.

What are you waiting for? Let’s go attack this day.

Angela Lee Duckworth studies achievement and participated in a fantastic TED Talk. Most psychologists in her field study intelligence, but that’s only part of the story. Duckworth, rather, at the University of Pennsylvania, studies intangible concepts such as self-control and “grit” to determine how they might predict both academic and professional success. She studies if perseverance can be taught. Grit is “one of the key and necessary achievements in any field,” as she puts it.

Leaving a high-flying job in consulting, Duckworth took a job teaching math to seventh graders in a New York public school. She quickly realized that IQ wasn’t the only thing separating the successful students from those who struggled. In this TED video, she explains … Read More

Cosgrove was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2010 but has remained an inspiration to the Gophers and the Twin Cities community. Now, he’s introduced to the national stage.

“It’s such a cool opportunity,” Cosgrove mentioned. “People like Coach Frazier and Mr. Spielman don’t come around every day.”

It’s time to get up, compete and make the best out of what we have today.

There’s no other decision we need to make other than the fact it’s our choice to dominate this day.

From the time we wake up until we go to sleep at night, all the choices we make contribute to who we are and what we create. Why not give 100% and perform to the best of our abilities?

And, like we preach every day, it’s not about beating the guy next to you. It’s about competing against yourself–being better than you were yesterday.

After Day 3 of the 2013 NFL Draft wrapped up on Saturday evening, Seahawks GM John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll spoke with the media on another great draft class.

When one reporter approached Carroll with a question regarding his philosophy and competition, Coach was happy to answer. “The standards that you set and the expectations that you demand, is what calls players to play at their best,” Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says. “Regardless of what it looks like, we have the exceptions to play great football, and the standards that it takes to do that are set daily. When you build everything around you with the theme of competition, then that’s what sets the tone.”
